Today, the 19th of May 2022, Rev. Fr. Stephen Mbugua has handed over the St. Paul's Parish and University of Nairobi Chaplaincy to Rev. Fr. Moses Kago, after over 8 years of leading the parish.
Father Mbugua has been praised by the parishioners and various group leaders as a priest who has achieved a lot of development at the parish, both physically, in terms of infrastructure, and spiritually. It is during his tenure as the parish priest that St. Paul's managed to expand from 2 storeys to 4 storey building, the facility that houses the priests, parish offices and halls. An outstation, St. Raphael, in Upper Kabete, has been able to grow and see one of the greatest infrastructural development; finishing one of the largest sanctuaries.
There has been better unity amongst leaders, development in catechesis with the coming of a resident catechist for the parish, the start of Small Christian Communities in the parish, the construction of Mary Seat of Wisdom Marian Grotto, the development of a functional website, online Masses, etc., not to mention that the 50th (golden) Jubilee for St. Paul's was celebrated in his tenure.
When the history of St. Paul's is written, he will surely be remembered for a lot of good things.
We welcome Fr. Kago, who was an assistant parish priest at St. Paul's over a decade earlier, and wish him the very best as he continues with the good work he has been doing at Blessed Sacrament Buru Buru.
Fr. Mbugua will be a full time lecturer at Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA) as he also serves as an assistant priest at St. Michael, Otiende Parish in Lang'ata.
As Fr. Mbugua, moves to his new assignment, Fr. Hunja, who has also been at St. Paul's as an assistant Parish Priest for over 10 years, also moves to live with His Grace the Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Nairobi, Bishop Philip Anyolo, at his resident. He has also been adorable at St. Paul's with very enriching homilies punctuated with comic stories. The parishioners shall surely miss him too. Fr. Hunja will be replaced by Fr. Victor as the Assistant Parish Priest at St. Paul's.
